Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac is up for the Gold Logie this year.
But could he also be David Koch’s permanent replacement on the Channel 7 show?
Punters are betting on the odds that the weatherman will both win the Gold Logie and then replace Kochie – who hasn’t even announced his leaving the show.
Will the sunset on David Koch? Rumours have started heating up that Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac will replace the presenter as Samantha Armytage’s co-host in 2019
As part of Sportsbet’s ‘Logies Special’, odds are at $18 that Sam will be the new potential anchor alongside Samantha Armytage, even though his chances may be slim.
Kochie, who was rumoured to be leaving the show in 2018, confirmed he would be staying after renewing his contract until the end of 2020.
The Sunrise host told News.com.au he considered leaving but was surprised when the network wanted to keep him.
‘I was asked to fill in for three months 16 years ago and 16 years is a pretty good innings,’ he said.
‘I was delighted and a bit surprised when they said they want me to do another two years,’ the TV personality admitted.
Not going anywhere! However, Kochie confirmed he renewed his contract with Sunrise until the end of 2020
In addition to Sam Mac, this year’s Gold Logie nominees include The Project’s Waleed Aly, Gardening Australia host Costa Georgiadis, Doctor Doctor star Rodger Corser, The Living Room’s Amanda Keller, ABC’s Tom Gleeson and Neighbours actress Eve Morey.
Meanwhile, the highest ‘Logies Special’ bet is $21 for Costa Georgiadis to attend the Logies clean shaven.
Another includes Tom Gleeson winning the Gold Logie, but refusing to accept it.
Meanwhile, the top bet to win Gold is Waleed Aly, followed by Costa Georgiadis and in third is Sam Mac.
